Vacation

Posted by – 29/06/2008

As you’ve already learned, Shannon and I (and a little person) went up North for the week. Other than the mosquitoes, it was a lovely holiday, although I realized by day two, that what we really needed was a nice, quiet cottage on a beach somewhere with lots of other kids near by and a barbecue. I did like sleeping in a hay loft, it smelled great and was really pretty.

There is also something to be said about returning to civilization, although I haven’t decided yet if it’s a nice something or a not so nice something.

hey! Loft!

These little piggies went to slaughter

They were so cute and all crying in unison. How anyone can eat pork is beyond me.

See how she’s changed in a few short months?

From this:

Peeny!

To this:

Om nom nom!

I should do this every 6 months. Oh, she’s gonna grow up and hate her Auntie Caitlin!

Crazy weekend, part 2

We also went to Ontario Place and it was brilliant. Perfect weather, not too many other people, lots of new and exciting rides and it was all extremely kid friendly.

Rain can’t wash away a beautiful day!

Crazy weekend, part 1

Seriously, I had the greatest weekend. On Saturday I went to Target with my mother and sister and spent $90. What did I get other than my favourite pharmaceuticals? New sheets ($12.48 for an entire king set, which is just…well, crazy), a wallet that I think is supposed to be a makeup bag, sandals and a few other bits and bobs. I think Target is my favourite store, and I used to have a wishlist, but it turns out it’s completely pointless, albeit very fun.

Sheet on da bed  With tiny pens inside I swore I would never wear gladiator style sandals. I lied.

I love those sheets, they remind me of my grandmother’s cottage. The sandals are for an upcoming wedding that I am totally excited about attending. No, I don’t have a dress yet, but I figure that the sandals were worth building an outfit around. And they are flat, thus perfect for beach events.

Visitation

My sister is here visiting and on Thursday we went and sat on babies for a few hours. It’s summertime here, almost, in Ontario, and the poppies are in bloom. Everyone knows that I love poppies, right?

sleep, sleep

It’s rock and roll and the message is:DO IT!

I have told the same stupid joke for years and never gotten a laugh, until last night, that is. A co worker of mine was telling me about the time he went to see Cyndi Lauper in concert (at Casinorama!) and she held his hand during “Time After Time” and how it was so awesome. So amazing. And so I say:

“Yeah, I was at a Rollins show once and he pointed at me all the way through a song. We really connected.” And my buddy started laughing so hard, and I got embarassed and turned red and laughed for about 5 minutes solid. It was great. Finally, a joke I have been working on since 1992 worked. And if you were wondering, it’s the song “Tearing” that works best, in my mind, with that story.

(And if you need an explanation of this, look up Rollins Band on youtube and you’ll see what I mean. I think. I also claimed that Rollins shops for shorts at the same store as Richard Simmons, so maybe we were really laughing at that.)
