Yo, yo, yo

We drove to Lindsay yesterday to visit our old friends and former co workers, the Wardens. Their farm is so intensely jealous making, it’s not even funny. I controlled my urge to pick up baby chicks, but I did get to scritch one of their black lambs. So cute. Wow.

This morning we all trekked out to the farmer’s market there, and I got lots of great stuff, including certified organic beets, red carrots and fresh garlic (smelly!), regular peaches and cream corn and some red skinned potatoes. We are having all of the above for supper tonight, with some lamb sausages, hopefully. If not, just a mountain of veggies with melted butter, salt and pepper. The beets are going to be a salad, on top of greens with vinaigrette and goat cheese crumbled on top.

Proof:

fat ones!    they don’t need peeling!  pungent

ready for cooking   heck yes.

Aren’t the beets pretty? They are all colours, including chioggia beets, that are just beautiful. The good news is that the little person that lives here does not like beets at all, or salad for that matter, so more for me. Yum yum!

  2. We ate all the corn, all the beets and all the potatoes. So good. Boiled potatoes with butter, sour cream, salt and pepper is one of the best eats in the world.

I love swiss chard too, we used to grow it at Malabar. And I regret not buying beans. Beans might be my favourite vegetable, over asparagus.

On that note, my Blood-Cholesterin-level was tested and it is far to high. Doctor lectored me about not eating so much fat, red meat, and other animal fats. Ehhhh, I’m a vegetarian strongly leaning towards being a vegan. WTF!

Guess I’m having a genetic problem, but I’ll try to reduce the “bad” fat even more. Puh, beans are great, but once in a while, some Potato Chips or French Fries would have been nice…
