I spent a couple days at my mom’s house, as you already know, and we went to the market early Saturday morning. The only thing I got there was a giant bag of grapes for $2. Oh, I got a quesadilla there too, but I ate that as we were walking. Anyway, the grapes are SO good. Real Niagara grapes, oh my, they really bring me back to my childhood. I think that was before they’d invented seedless globe grapes you get at the grocery store-which are nice too-but you can’t compare the flavour. These taste so intensely grape-y.
I have no idea what kind of grapes they are, the purple ones are bigger and most likely juice grapes, maybe concords. Their flavour is so intense, and they have that texture, when they are squeezed and the middle pops out like an eyeball. The green ones might be champagne grapes, they are really small, tangier in taste and not as ‘snotty’ texturally as we used to say a million years ago.
Ari tried one and spat it out. Which is good news for me!
