The weird hot/sweet Mexican candy thing used to throw me for a loop, too, but its totally something you learn to love. Skwinkles, especially the mango flavored ones, are really actually extremely good - they aren't too heavy on the chile and contrary to what another commenter said, tamarins flavored things are amazing!

seriously, tryyyyyyy it!

Candy in enchiladas strips flavor handle and sauce flavor tamarind
I went to Yahoo Babel Fish for translation and this is what I got. What the heck is "flavor handle"? I love it.

Maybe the spicy mango strips aren't so bad if you don't use the sauce?

I've been living off banana and pina colada life savors with gummy sours thrown in for salivary purposes.

I say you should try them, the more I think about them, the less disgusting they seem.

Like anywhere, Mexico is a nice place to live if you have money. I would be more likely to consider living there if I spoke/read/understood Spanish at all. I wouldn't be able to work there without that.
