Cooking on Sunday

I rode my bike to the Liberty Village farmer’s market and it was worth it. The market’s not huge, but it’s nice, a good variety and there was a band playing. Here’s what I got for about $20:

The gooseberries are amazing, and lucky for me, neither Shannon nor Ari like them. Ha. I made all the zucchini and some of the fresh garlic into soup using this recipe  (it’s bland and requires a lot of seasoning):

Then I made all the cucumbers into bread and butter pickles using this recipe (sorta) and my pack of pickling spices:

They smell great, I can barely wait for tomorrow to eat them. All.

I hope that the pickles turn out well!

We’ve stayed strong and are still waiting for the dill & garlic ones to pickle a little longer before tasting ‘em.

I already snuck a couple and they’re GREAT. Hot diggity!

I was going to make dills, but maybe next time. With fresh garlic they’d be brutal, oh my…

Hey Jamie, that’s great! As soon as I saw your name (I’ve read your blog via Twwly) I thought, hey, that would be a good soup for kids, as an intro to soup as it were.

The best part of that soup is how cheap and easy it is to make.

Not to mention a sneaky way of slipping in vegis that get the ewwwww factor sometimes :)
