I also bake cookies

Sort of. These were from a President’s Choice mix, Oatmeal with raisins and dates.

cookies

I rolled the first batch in coconut and the second in pignoles. Truth be told, they’re not that great. They’re an odd texture, crumby and grainy, and they fall apart easily.  They’re also oddly spiced, too much nutmeg or something. Eh. We’ll suffer through them somehow.

Oh I’d suggest cherries…it’ll work well with the nutmeg.

Well, holy crap, Jamie, you’re a genius!

Cherries are available now too, sour ones which are my best cherry.

Lol…not a genuis, just too damn cheap to throw food away :)

Yeah, I have this whole thing about throwing food away or being wasteful in general. Drives. Me. Crazy.

Now I have to go frost a cake I made that probably also won’t be eaten.

I want to try the new “daring bakers” mallow cookie challenge. They look soooooooooo good!

  • Caitlin Jane  On 07/29/2009 at 8:54 am

I agree, they do look great, as do the madeleines. But daunting, I think if I were to take stuff like that seriously I’d have to get a microwave and a couple other odds and ends that I’m missing (a scale would be great too).

I think a nice digital scale is going to be one of my next purchases. Right now I’m up to my neck in fruit so I’m making tons of jam. But the first kids party I’m sooooo making the mallow cookies!
