The scarves i made on a small portable loom called a rigid heddle. On a rigid heddle, you are *pretty much* constrained to plain weave.. (one up, one down). More skilled weavers can hand manipulate to do more.. but you can do alot with your colour choices and beading the edge and things of that nature.

My big floor loom can pretty much do anything. If you want the fabric to sew with then ya, what you said… Basically weave the fabric then treat it like fabric you bought at a store. :)

And ya, i narrowed my version of the calorimetry quite a bit :-O. Knitting is definitely slower than crocheting… but both have their place in my heart. :)

Andrea, the calorimetry took longer for a small project than I really like (what am I talking about, those baktus are forevers) so somehow I doubt I’ll do another any time soon. Unless I do the half version of it…

I am interested in your loom, those scarves are so pretty, but can all it do is straight across squared fabrics? Or you do that and then cut it to make a skirt or whatever? Do you use regular yarn in it?

I do have 2 sets, mum, otherwise…well, they would have been impossible. At one point I had 7 needles working at once, it was a bit chaotic!

Suggestion: If you decide to make socks again, a good idea is to get a second set of dpns and knit both at the same time.

adorable… such an amazing band. I *JUST* ressurected them as well :).

Calorimetries are great gifts. I like to knit matching mitties to go with them.
