I hesitate to say that my vv is better – but think it is – even if it’s only by a tweak. Prices have certainly gone up but it’s still possible to find bargains.
Love that you remembered the painted black velvet cushion story. That was huge fun. xo

Nothing new lately, just listening to all my favourites, mostly cbc (DNTO, Vinyl Cafe, The Spark and now Wire Tap) then This American Life, The Moth and Radiolab. I tried Kevin Smith’s Smodcast, but it’s too…eh. Manly? I followed him for a bit on Twitter then gave up because he’s an over-tweeter.

I’d quit looking at this V.V. if there was anything better in my area, but there really isn’t. There’s a Sally Ann down the street but it’s bad too. Maybe I ought to just stick with Winner’s.

Value villiage seems to be a contradiction in terms. I never realized the standard of living disparity here until I started selling used computer crap that I bought at garage sales down in Miami. Rich folks throw out stuff that people up north would pay money for. That vv stuff is horrid! Any good podcast finds.

Oh, they bought a similar pillowcase, I think with Niagara Falls on it, and presented it to them as a gift with very serious faces, just to see how polite their friends could be. I think they let them in by laughing after a few short, uncomfortable minutes…

Laura, my first room mate ever worked their too, as a teenager. He worked in the kitchen and said that peacocks would just wander in, and he’d throw potatoes at them, sending them running off in a panic. It’s a mental image I love.
