Love is strong as death

Love

It’s true. And I am such a softy that I got all choked up in the cemetery reading people’s letters to their departed loved ones.

Dishes

I inherited my grandmother’s good china, from her first wedding (?) a while ago, and I wish I had some real use for it. I’d always been told it was “Mother’s Aynsley”, and assumed that was true, but upon unpacking it all today, out of curiosity, I realized that was incorrect. Some if it is Aynsley (that’s the dishes with the red to the edge), but some of it is called Wendover (the dishes with a cream outer band). And there are 2 tea saucers called Limoges (white with a gold leaf print band). So, I was wrong, Em, I thought it was all Limoges.

Makes me wish I had dinner parties.

One of the tea cups didn’t survive, which is sad, and another looked like it had broken and been glued back together by a blind person. I liked looking at the newspaper everything was wrapped in, from 1991 and 1993, and found a couple crosswords to fill in, AND an article about comic book artists in Toronto, my old favourites, Joe Matt, Chester Brown and

And further on the baby front

We went to meet New Georges the other day. AKA Little Georges, AKA P’tit Georges. He’s very cute. I always forget how teensy beensy new babies are. His skin is dry and wrinkly, which is a symptom of being 9 days overdue: All the liquid he had been swimming in had run out, leaving him with scaly skin, and long nails too. Ew. Gross. He sure can fart loud. The PZA thought it was me.

Anyway, Kim told me that her oldest kid, who’s 3, came to meet the new baby the day after he was born. Kim said “This is your new brother, Georges.” To which the little boy replied “Oh, it’s a boy. I thought it was going to be a girl, then we could have named her Mumma.” How sweet is that? Aww.

In other news, I rode my bike so far on Monday against the wind that I am still suffering the after effects. My thighs and back are in agony.

I am just waiting for coffee to be ready, then the day can really begin. And further on the baby front

A new online diary means…

I can’t believe I am starting yet another online diary. This has to be my 10th, at least. It’s shocking. Of course, I haven’t stayed up to date on any of them, eventually my interest fizzles out…or I get booted from them, haha. Hopefully this one lasts a bit longer than the others.

Seamus and Rose are nipping at my heels, I must go feed and water them.

New baby, basket, movie.

My friends Kim and Georges had a baby on Friday, a boy. His name is Georges (Junior) and weighed in at 7.5lbs. He was born at home, without the help of a midwife, I guess Kim was more ready to deliver than anticipated. Daddy was the catcher. We are going to meet him this week and I am off this afternoon to buy something cute.

I am also going to buy a new basket for my bike. Yes, you can laugh all you want at my grannycycle, but I love it. I just need a bigger basket so I can buy groceries. I want a big metal one on the front and 2 folding ones on the back tire. Eeee!

Oh, and we went to see Kill Bill last night. I enjoyed it, but I was very much distracted by an enormous stain on the movie screen. It looked like someone had thrown their large pop at it, and no on had bothered to clean it up. All the way through the film I was thinking “Stain!” Grr. Not to mention the price of popcorn. Honestly, that they can justify charging $5.00 (Canadian) for approximately 3 cents worth of corn-if that-is bullshit.

Ooh, can’t wait til the all-girl-sleepover-bonanza. I will fill in more details as they become available.
