Exciting give away time!

Shannon ordered the three shirt surprise pack from teefury and liked only 2 of them. This is where I come in. Rather than let shirt #3 rot on the couch, I thought I could mail it to a deserving recipient.

This is a Lost shirt, a men’s size XL, it’s pretty big. This is the front and there’s nothing on the back:

I guess, uh, the first person to comment on this blog post that wants it, gets it. But be specific, “I WANT THAT SHIRT!” or something to that effect, ok?

What we done did do

Went swimming, we sure did. Some of us, at least. The water was crystal clear and cold as fuck, just like I like it. Little Bluff is my very favourite fresh water place to swim, I guess.  Don’t look too closely at my love handles, I promise I am working at making them smaller.

Then we ate a metric ton of sushi, watched movies, snuggled in bed, woke up to room service then shuffled Ari off to her grandmother’s to enjoy her cousins and some fresh air.  Now that I have Shannon all to myself for maybe a week, I have NO idea what to do with him as it’s been so long since we’ve had a break from parenting.

Luckily for me, a new LLCBO opened around the corner, that ought to help me make decisions.

A group effort

Ari was sent a giant package from Japan including this micro lego set. It’s a little beyond Ari’s abilities (or rather, her patience and willingness to build something so detailed) so after her and Shannon completed the first 4 levels, I took it over and snapped a picture at the end of each level. It was most satisfying and I’d collect all the sets of this amazing toy if I could (I also completed all of the smaller sets of animals she got).

Then Shannon took over and created this flash file, which was probably just as much work, if not more.

Yay for collaborations!

Ari and I had a girl’s afternoon out on Saturday. We took the subway (which is still a treat to her) to ROM, using our family pass. It’s worth every penny, if you ask me, I can take 2 kids and it’s free. Ish. Did you know how much I love taxidermy? It’s true, I do.

And this friendly fellow jumped out and said “HI!”

I love beavers. I am not such a fan of raccoons, so this guy didn’t do as much for me.

The area of ROM that’s been there forever, it’s got trees and grass and lots of different animals and the idea is to spot them all. It’s still good, I can remember being stumped by it as a kid, and I still have no idea where a bunch of them are hiding. Maybe when I am older…

Anyway, we also hung out in the loathed children’s area, I hate it and said as much to the young woman making sure that all kids 12 and under were not going in unaccompanied. I tried to tell her that Ari had just turned 13, but she didn’t buy it. Ugh. It’s an enormous waste of time in there, just a distraction from the good parts.

On the way out there was  a red mascot dinosaur flapping at the little kids. Ari went right up to her and told her she was a fake.

Heh. Then we got new sunglasses and sandals. A jolly good day!

Hot day here. I was wearing jeans until I practically melted.

We’re doing fireworks later, after the sun sets. There’s a mountain of them-I left the store so I wouldn’t hear the total bill-and I’m excited. At the firework store, which doubles as a costume store, I took this picture:

It’s wrong on pretty much every level. Politically AND spellingly.

All weekend

On Friday I went to see my first Jays’ game of the season. It was freezing cold up in the nose bleeds, wind gusting and T and I snuggled up. It was one heck of a game, Jays won 16-10, so that was exciting. And the young couple beside us who’d smuggled in their own booze and fought like crazy the whole time.

All for $11 a ticket. Cheap thrills, kids.

And then we went bowling on Saturday (for my birthday) with a friend of Ari’s who kicked everybody’s ass. Have you ever been trounced by a 7 year old at a bowling alley? Next time we’re playing 10 pin and we’ll see what’s what.

Also, Shannon and I completely forgot to see David Copperfield on Thursday. I’m trying not to cry.

That’s me on my way to class at the workroom. Started my double wedding ring quilt, I have a terrible feeling I’ve bitten off more than I can chew.

But just a bit

I went to Niagara Falls, NY on Thursday. My mom took me cross border shopping, it was great. Got some alsome scores at my beloved Target (I mean, 100 antihistamines for just over $4? Heck yes!) and we had lunch at a sweet restaurant called “Mom’s”. See? For Mother’s Day? Haha, right? The joke was on us, the food was terrible.

Oh. Yes, I got a Liberty of London basket thing. And zebra stripe shoes. And crazy flavour changing gum that’s totally mental.

Then we drove past what has to be the biggest concentration of no-tell motels in the world. This one’s my very favourite:

Love it. Love that it’s just a bit of Paris. Not too much. I mean, come on, how much Paris do you really need?

Went to see IronMan 2 tonight, it was good. I fell asleep for a little bit, but not all of it. A good sign.

And my knee’s a mess. I actually went to the dr today to have him look at it. There’s nerve damage that’s worrisome. But there’s nothing to be done anyway. And even if I did want painkillers, it turns out he’s no longer allowed to prescribe them. Sigh.

Ow. Sigh.

So my first time out on my xmas roller skates was a complete disaster. Our alley/driveway is extremely rustic: It may as well be a gravel road. And I should have known better, I should have walked to the end of it and THEN put on my skates, but no, I was feeling ambitious. And distracted for one split second by a neighbor, I fell.

Hard.

I sucked it up and did the promised round in the (smooth) driveway next door. Then hobbled in to see what was what. Ari’s face was classic, I should have taken a picture of that.

Before clean up:

And after, with liberal slathering of polysporin that has pain killer in it:

Looks better but trust me, it hurts, a lot, and is bleeding through the bandaid.  And it’s got some strange numbness around it too. I haven’t had a knee injury like this for so long I forgot what they were like.

I’m getting knee pads. And wrist guards.

Fun for all

It’s exciting when a new tattoo shop opens, especially when there is free beer involved. Oh, and sushi and vegan cupcakes-not that I ate any of those. Bill Baker has finally opened the doors to his new place, The Pearl Harbor Gift Shop and Tattoos. It’s a catchy name, I know. And they’ve done an amazing  job on renovations and decorations. It’s probably the prettiest shop in town, seriously. Stupidly, I only took one picture last night, I was having that much fun.

Exterior:

Not that Bill or Daniel or Glennie need my wishes of good luck (and not that I believe in luck anyway)-all three of them are incredibly talented. So, I guess it’s lots of love and see you soon!

Also, these crackers gave me the giggles yesterday.

Hee hee!

Happy (early) birthday to me

I was not expecting this, especially considering I don’t even drive. At all. Not even  G1.

Very exciting, indeed. It’s 1973 Mustang and it’s pretty much huge.  My first whip.

Thanks and love to Shannon, who else?
